The 9th International Symposium of Corporate Governance Convened at Nankai

   On July 22-23, the 9th International Symposium of Corporate Governance was  convened at Nankai Business School. The meeting was titled, “Green  Governance and Governance Transition”.  Over 300 guests from home and abroad explored how, in the new normal and new  environment, to go beyond national boundaries to share the idea of green  governance and achieve governance transition.

     The meeting set up 10 parallel sessions, including Governance of Board of  Directors and Strategic Management, Corporate Governance and Innovation, Green  Governance and Social Responsibility, Network Governance, etc. It gained  substantial support and drew great attention from the national government  departments and institutions, domestic and overseas scholars and entrepreneurs.  And more than 200 papers were accepted by the Organizing Committee.

Prof. Li Weian, President  of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics and Director of the China Academy  of Corporate Governance of Nankai University, issued the 2017 Corporate  Governance Evaluation Index of Chinese Listed Companies. As the  earliest-released such index in the country, it was regarded as a barometer of  the management of Chinese listed companies. Since 2003, It has been published  for 15 consecutive years and a total of 27,391 sample firms were appraised. The  index has exerted wide influence and been recognized by the State Council and  the China Securities Regulatory Commission. In 2013, the research results were  transformed into productivity.

In this symposium, the  China Academy of Corporate Governance of Nankai University launched the  Norms of Green Governance, a pioneer in the world, and offered a series  of propositions to amend the Governance Principles for Listed  Companies.
